Harlech Film Society Screening: Mother (15) The film society aims to bring an exciting and engaging season of local and international films; screening the very best in contemporary world cinema. February sees the Film Society presenting the fine South Korean thriller ‘Mother’. The film is both a suspenseful thriller and a gripping psychological study, with added elements of mystery in the presentation that go beyond the norms of the genre. Veteran actress Kim Hye-Ja plays the mother of a 28-year-old son with learning difficulties who is accused of murdering a young girl, as a result of which she turns detective in order to identify the actual culprit.
The society has a membership scheme where for a small fee members can enjoy a discount of £2.50 on admission to each film featured in the programme up to May 2012. Film: The Iron Lady (12a). A biographical film about the life of Margaret Thatcher who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from the end of the seventies to 1990. The film focuses on her as a ‘human being’ and the personal price she paid for power rather than the political and social impact she had. Praise abounds for Meryl Streep who plays Thatcher the politician and there are also very fine performances from Welsh actress Alexandra Roach who plays the young Thatcher and for Jim Broadbent who plays Denis Thatcher.

To celebrate the first Birthday (well nearly) for the Challenge your Boundaries Adaptive MTB project we've teamed up with our mates at Graig Wen to pull together our first aMTB weekender. The hub (ho ho!) of activity will be at the Graig Wen campsite, and there will be two days of skills workshops, rides and hopefully some socials around the campfire. Cost £70pp including 2 nights camping fees and guiding. Meals and bike rental not included. Accredited riders can hire 'Challenge your Boundaries' bikes subject to availability. Places are limited so get in touch to secure your place. Be there or be square!

Challenge your Boundaries Leading Adaptive Mountain Bikers (LAMB) Training Course. Improvements in adaptive bike technology mean that it is now possible to offer riders with disabilities a genuine off-road experience. The new MinorTaur trail at Coed y Brenin opens up further possibilities, as it has been engineered to take adaptive trikes and quads along its entire length, and leads to the possibility of trail centre rides for mixed ability groups. The LAMB course is designed to provide mountain bike leaders (MBLA, CTC, OTC or MIAS Level 2) with the appropriate confidence, skills and knowledge to be able to include, encourage and support adaptive riders within their groups.
On Sun 4th November the Challenge your Boundaries project is hosting a "Momentum Ride 2012" aMTB guided ride which LAMB candidates are encouraged to take part in to gain valuable aMTB leadership experience.

Challenge your Boundaries Momentum Rides 2012 aMTB guided rides. These are free of charge to any adaptive rider although riders will be responsible for providing their own equipment. We do ask for a £20 booking fee which will be refunded to attendees on the day. Accredited riders may be able to rent Challenge your Boundaries equipment subject to availability.
