Many competitors return regularly to try and better their performance or just beat that train while others have run nearly every year since the races started. NT Live presents Yerma A young woman is driven to the unthinkable by her desperate desire to have a child in Simon Stone’s radical production of Lorca’s achingly powerful masterpiece. The unmissable theatre phenomenon sold out at the Young Vic and critics call it ‘an extraordinary theatrical triumph’ Billie Piper’s lead performance is described as ‘spellbinding’.
Set in contemporary London, Piper’s portrayal of a woman in her thirties desperate to conceive builds with elemental force to a staggering, shocking, climax.

Barmouth Bridge 150th Anniversary.
A special weekend to celebrate 150years since the opening of the Mawddach's iconic harbour bridge. This Grade II listed structure is nearly half a mile long. The longest viaduct in Wales and the longest wooden bridge in Britain.
The railway line it carries, ‘The Cambrian Coast’, brought tourism to the town in the Victorian era. The bridge was used in the filming of The Ghost Train (1941), which will be shown over the weekend alongside footage from the same era. The theatre will also host an exhibition of bridge artwork and many other events will be held around the town, including a model railway exhibition and firework/laser display on the Saturday night.
