Dolgellau Visitor Information
The pretty market town of Dolgellau (pronounced Dol-geth-lie) was once the administrative centre for the county of Merioneth. It retains a weekly livestock market and the narrow streets of the town have plenty of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Dolgellau Map and Directions

The main car park beside the Marian playing fields has public toilets and there is a Tourist Information office on the towns’ main square.

Dolgellau is a midpoint on Section B of the Mawddach Way and the start or finish of the Mawddach Trail. Bike Hire is available in the town.

For something a little different, why not explore some of the remains of 20th century military activity in the area. From hill-top memorials to beach defences, there are over 50 different sites in and around the Mawddach Estuary to be explored on foot, by bike or by car. See here for further details.

Public Transport

On Tuesdays and Thursdays and other selected dates through the summer holidays, the Greenway Shuttle Bus can connect you and your bike to the start of some of the best cycling routes in Southern Snowdonia. Operating between Dyffryn Ardudwy, Barmouth, Dolgellau, Coed y Brenin and Llyn Trawsfynydd, the bike bus offers the perfect opportunity to leave the car behind and ride instead.
